"Consider your origins: you were not made that you might live as brutes, but so as to follow virtue and knowledge." "I do not wish to hide my origins, nor do I seek to make it a subject of conversation. I am what I am."

What's on my mind

Nobody by the wondergirls

Desiderata

Max Ehrmann in the 1920s

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Satan's Conversion: possible or probable?

One morning in the chapel, during the meditation, I was reading a book containing the homilies of Msgr. Socrates Villegas at the Edsa Shrine. I found his homilies a great aid to prayer. They moved my heart and elevated my mind because they were always well prepared. I am sure that the preparation that goes into each of Msgr. Villegas' homilies is evident in the soundness of doctrine, coherence of ideas, and the propriety of expression. His homilies reminded me of supernatural truths, which were the surest, and the most secure guide for our Christian life. As I was reading one of his homilies, I was struck by a certain passage, which says:

"Do you believe in the grace of God? If you do, how come you have closed yourself by passing judgment on others so easily? If you still believe in the grace of God, you must believe that the worst sinner can still convert." With that, I then arrive at an idea of the conversion of the worst sinner who is Satan himself to Catholicism. And if that happens, then for sure. . .the majority, if not all, will be saved.

Lucifer, a.k.a Satan, was an archangel before he rebelled and rose to power. He was in charge of the light in the universe. Among the angels and archangels, he was the most powerful. He was next to the throne of God. Thus, he wanted to be like God. He wanted to be the Supreme Being He wanted to reign God's creation - all because of his pride. He was a fallen archangel.

The idea, I think, of the conversion of Satan is possible. Every creation of God, I believe, is good. Satan is one of God's creations. Therefore Satan is good. I can't think of Satan as the other Alpha and the Omega. And with that, I know that change is possible.

On second thought one of my classmates opposes to my idea that according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it is impossible. "Pure spirits are unforgivable. It is the irrevocable character of their choice and not a defect in the infinite divine mercy, which makes the angels' sin unforgivable. 'There is no repentance for the angels after their fall , just as there is no repentance for men after death'." But who are these authors who are only mere humans to judge? Why don't they leave that to God alone?

Somehow I notice that there is a similarity between Satan's story and the prodigal son: Satan as the (original) prodigal son who is lost and, perhaps, longing to be found; that after experiencing all the pleasures of how is it to be like God and to be the Supreme Being of the dark side, he perhaps will realize that there is much greater joy in God's presence and care than to be in darkness without God; and also God as the Father who perhaps is also looking for his long-lost son, which is Satan; and we, the people, are the jealous brother who thinks of the prodigal son not deserving of God's love.

So Satan's conversion is possible or probable? have you wondered why no one asks this question? the answer is no one is interested. we are just like the jealous brother who doesn't care of him. But come to think of it, his conversion ends all misery.

for argument sake, Satan wants to go back to God.

the next important question is . . . will God the Father who of infinite chances, of infinite opportunities and of infinite mercy forgives Satan?

If only the conversion of Satan will be realized, I could already imagine all the people in the world will be living harmoniously: there will be no war, drug addiction, graft and corruption, prostitution, etc. Thus, instead of praying for world peace, I might as well be praying for the conversion of Satan who is the root of all evil.

In addition, I could imagine that there will be great changes in the Church: the seven sacraments will be reduced to five sacraments only such as : Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, Holy Matrimony, and the Holy Eucharist. The Holy Eucharist, I think, will focus more on appraising the Lord since there is no need to preach the Gospel.

As a final point, I do realize that it is up to God who to forgive. Only God knows what to decide - not us.

First Confession

A parish priest was being honored at a dinner on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his arrival in that parish. A leading local politician, who was a member of the congregation, was chosen to make the presentation and give a litttle speech at the dinner, but he was delayed in traffice, so the priest decided to say his own few words while they waited.

'you will understand, ' he said, 'the seal of the confessional, can never be broken. However, i got my first impressions of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I can only hint vaquely about this, but when i came here twenty-five years ago I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. the very first chap who entered my confessional told me how he had stolen a television set, and when stopped by the police, had almost murdered the officer. Further, he told me he had stolen money from his parents, embezzled money from his place of business, had an affair with his boss's wife, taken illegal drugs, and gave VD to his sister. I was appalled. But as the days went on I knew that my people were not all like that, and I had, indeed come to a fine parish full of understanding and loving people.'

just as the priest finished his talk, the politician arrived full of apologies at being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and give his talk 'i'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived in this parish, ' said the politician. 'in fact, i had the honor of being the first one to go to him in confession.'

toink.

  • Babylon which is in Iraq destroyed Jerusalem.
  • Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq
  • The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace)
  • Belshazzar, the king of Babylon saw the 'writing on the wall' in Iraq
  • Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq
  • Ezekiel preached in Iraq
  • the wise men were from Iraq
  • Peter preached in Iraq
the 'Empire of Man' described in Revelation are called Babylon which was a city in Iraq. and you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the bible. but do you know which nation is second? it is Iraq.

however, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. the names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia.

the word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. the name Iraq, means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible. here's why!

Eden was in Iraq - Genesis 2:10-14

Adam and Eve were created in Iraq Genesis 2:7-8
Satan made his first recorded appearance in Iraq Genesis 3:1-6?Nimrod established Babylon and the tower of Babel was built in Iraq Genesis 10:8-9; 11:1-4 the confusion of the languages took place in Iraq Genesis 11:5-11 Abraham came from a city in Iraq Genesis 11:31; Acts 7:2-4. Isaac's bride came from Iraq Genesis 24:3-4. Jacob spent 20 years in Iraq Genesis 27:42-45; 31:38 . the first world Empire was in Iraq Daniel 1:1-2;2:36-38; the greatest revival in history was in a city in Iraq Jonah 3; the events of the book of Esther took place in Iraq- Esther; the book of Nahum was a prophecy against a city in Iraq - Nahum; the book or revelation has prophecies against the Babylon (Iraq's former name). Revelation 17 and 18 no other nation except Israel has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.

and also . . .

this is something to think about! since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read upon his muslim passages . . . the following verse is from the Quran(Islamic bible)

Quran 9:11 For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

Explore Baugo, budlaan falls . . . Transformers: Hunt of the Fallen . . . 7.11.9

“It is revealed that thousands of years before Optimus Prime and the other Transformers arrived on Earth, there was a race of ancient Transformers who scoured the universe looking for Energon sources. Known as the Dynasty of Primes, they used a weapon called the Sun Harvester to drain stars of their energy in order to convert it to Energon and power Cybertron’s AllSpark. The Primes agreed that life-bearing worlds would be spared, but when one brother, who was thereafter dubbed "The Fallen", constructed a Sun Harvester on Earth in 17,000 BCE, the remaining brothers sacrificed their bodies in order to hide the Matrix of Leadership, the key that powers the Sun Harvester, from The Fallen, who swore to seek revenge upon Earth once he found the key.”

In present day, 11th of July 2009, Optimus now joins XSemBros, an organization consisting of x seminarians of Pope John XXIII Seminary and his own team of Autobots—including newcomers Arcee, Sideswipe, Jolt, and the twins Skids and Mudflap hunting down the Fallen. Intelligence reports a spotted Decepticon hiding at the cave of the 3rd falls of Baugo, Budlaan falls.

Objective: Capture the Decepticon and bring it to the exit point. Friendlies will take over from there.

. . . Sam: Bai, d ko ka kuyog ninyo ky klase ko. C Mikaela ra. Kaw na bahala Daks.

Budget highlights:

* we negotiated php 30 per head for the motorcycle from jy square to baugo but bati ang dalan so naka pliti mi php 70 ky luoy ayo ang motor. i suggest others who wants to go there to take the sunny hills area. habalhabal fare is php20 per head.

* bring your own lunch.

What to expect:

* fun. so much fun and challenge.

* rock climb. root climb. rock jump. slippery trail.

* get wet. slippery rocks. rocks that are like walls. BIG ROCKS.

* cool waters. i think its potable but drink at your own risk.

* from the baugo basketball court, i think the 3rd falls is just 2 km away.

* snakes (we saw 1 alive that is about 1.5 meter snake and 1 headless dead snake)

* good view at the 3rd falls. it has a cave beneath it. and it blows wind like a propeller. maybe that is the reason when you take a bath at the falls you will not feel any cold. the water is cool but you will not get a cold feeling. amazing. you can take a dip there the whole day.

* we saw the snakes at the 3rd falls.

* compared to kawasan falls, baugo falls is much nearer.

* too bad the place is not totally clean. you can find some garbage around the river but not that many.

* there are cases there of flash flood so it is not really advisable to go there when it rains before hand.

How to get there:

go to Sunny hills. from there ky daghan na habalhabal at php20 per head. 2pax per motor. pwede sad php30 one pax per motor. going to the Baugo basketball court nana. u can bring a car also to the Baugo basketball court. don't take the busay route. lisud ang dalan.

from the court ky u can start the trek there. if you want to go directly to the river you can take our route. there is a footpath at the right side of the court going down left. when you go down take the left route. at the river go left until you reach the falls until the 3rd falls. at the 3rd falls take the right side trail. look for it. at the top you will now start to assault big boulders. rock jumping and climbing.

Don't go there when it rains.

Everyday Hustle

An Overlooked Attrition
by Hazel Aguisanda

Work reality and how to work around it

1. Night shift
  • make sure you get a good 5-8 hour sleep

2. Stressed during shift
  • don't take a cigarette break. WALK! a good 10-minute walk around beautiful IT park can help and is not such a bad idea. any health expert will tell you that walking burns calories, stimulates blood circulation and helps lower cholesterol levels.

3. Still stressed after shift
  • Red horse is NOT the answer.
  • you don't have to sign up in an expensive gym, still IT park or Abellana (or a good lap pool) is ideal for at least a 30-minute outdoor workout; plus you get FREE sunshine with loads of Vitamin D and serotonin (natural anti-depressant). So guess what? you have a more positive disposition when you get back to work, can handle your calls with a smile and might actually increase that CSAT(customer satisfaction)score!

4. 12-14 hour work day
  • Are you sure your mind still works on the 10th hour? Even if you put in 14 work hours a day I guarantee you that there will still be emails to be answered and reports to be done

5. Sleepy during the shift
  • Go back to number # 1.

Employees can further look into modifying some routines:

  • PLEASE no breakfast buffets after your shift!
  • Eat an apple instead of puffing a ciggy.
  • Get a hobby, join a charity club - whatever it is, join activities other than work. It's a harsh reality, but even if you put in 16 work hours, your company may not keep you if you are no longer fit to work.
  • If your Team Lead or Operations Manager routinely insist that you work overtime, you can push back if it becomes frequent or unhealthy for you. The best thing is to work as productive as possible within your shift so you can complete your deliverables and not compromise client satisfaction. (yes this is possible)
  • If you are in a management role, it is best if you set a good example to your team in leading a healthy work/life balance.

We are all extremely lucky to have all these different call centers providing jobs in our community; but we all need a strong resolve to simultaneously manage hazards of the job by simply not abusing one's health!

Let us make sure that a simple resignation due to poor health does not become an overlooked attrition.

Nurse Cathy's Snake bite tips

how to prepare yourself for the upcoming river trek? expect that danger is on its way. . .hehe so be prepared.

*First aid for snakebites:

*How to avoid snakebite:

  • - stay away from all snakes
  • - keep away from tall bush and deep crevices
  • - wear boots taller than the ankle
  • - make noise while walking
  • - don't stick hands or feet in areas that cannot be seen

*Extra precautions:
